How to Install DocFila on Windows 10 & 11
By DocFila Team · September 4, 2026 · 4 min read
There are two ways to run DocFila on Windows. A native Windows app — a signed MSIX installer for 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1809) and Windows 11 — is being finalised and will be published on the desktop download page as soon as it is ready. Until then, the DocFila web app installs as a Windows app from Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome in under a minute: its own window, a Start Menu entry, and the same account and documents as on your phone and Mac.
What you'll need
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 — any edition.
- Microsoft Edge (pre-installed), Google Chrome, Brave, or Vivaldi.
- No admin rights: the web app installs into your own user profile, so it also works on managed work and school PCs.
The native Windows app: coming soon
DocFila for Windows is packaged as an MSIX installer for 64-bit Windows 10 version 1809 or later. It is the same app as the Mac release — the DocFila Reader plus the document tools — with a signed installer that Windows can verify. The Windows section of the desktop page switches to a download button the moment the signed package is published; the short link docfila.com/download/windows will point at it.
Method 1: Install the web app from Microsoft Edge (recommended)
- Open www.docfila.com in Edge.
- Look in the address bar for the Apps icon on the right side.
- Click it, then click Install this site as an app.
- Confirm the name DocFila and click Install. Edge offers to pin DocFila to the taskbar and the Start Menu — accept whichever you use.
Method 2: Install the web app from Google Chrome or Brave
- Open DocFila in Chrome or Brave.
- Click the install icon on the right side of the address bar (a small monitor with a down arrow).
- Click Install.
- DocFila is added to the Start Menu and your desktop. To pin it, open the Start Menu, find DocFila, right-click → Pin to taskbar.
Working offline and side by side
The web app caches itself on first launch, so documents you have already opened stay available without a connection, and changes sync when you reconnect. On Windows 11, hover over DocFila's maximize button to place it in Snap Layouts next to Word, Outlook or Teams.
Uninstalling
Open the Start Menu, find DocFila, right-click → Uninstall, or go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find DocFila and choose Uninstall. Your synced documents stay in the cloud.
